Helene Flooding Devastates Appalachia

Locals Fend for Themselves as Government Assistance is MIA

The death toll continues to rise as the flood waters recede in Appalachia. Easter TN and Western NC are in a state of emergency. Many people are still trapped due to roads and bridges washing out. Hundreds of thousands of people are out of water after floods destroyed pumpstations.

Volunteers and private individuals have stepped up to help as best they can, since hundreds of TN National Guard troops were deployed overseas just a few weeks ago. FEMA and state EMAs have been extremely lax in their response. Many counties are struggling to handle the crisis.

These areas of the country are hundreds of miles from the oceans and are at least 1000 feet above sea level. This storm took a strange path and struck an area that was not prepared. Locals did not receive warning about the severity of the storm or flood risks.

Note: Pray for Our Leaders is based in Eastern TN and is witnessing this first hand.

Pray for the protection of the innocent and vulnerable. Pray for rescue efforts to be successful. Pray for cleanup efforts to go smoothly. Pray for quick repair of pump stations, electric grids, roads, and bridges. Pray for the safety of rescue personnel. Pray for comfort for the people involved. Pray for intelligent use of resources. Pray for peace to prevail. Pray for wisdom in dealing with the situation. Pray for an end to corruption. Pray that people remain vigilant. Pray for repentance. Pray for the truth to be revealed.
