Ranches Fighting for Survival
The second biggest fire in Texas history has burned 1.1 million acres, killed tens of thousands of cattle, and destroyed hundreds of structures.
The vast majority of the state’s beef production is in the panhandle. That beef accounts for $186.1 billion of the state’s economy.
Many ranches have lost most of their herd – a loss that will take years to recover from. Adding to the expense, ranchers will be forced to buy hay for their cattle, since the fire burned the plains.
Pray for the protection of the innocent and vulnerable. Pray for the protection of locals. Pray for the safety of the firefighters. Pray for intelligent use of resources. Pray for teamwork to predominate. Pray for wisdom in dealing with the situation. Pray for an end to corruption. Pray that people remain vigilant. Pray for repentance.
