More Chemicals than at First Thought Were Spilled
A train carrying highly toxic chemical derailed in East Palestine OH, forcing residents to evacuate. A number of cars were transporting phosgene, which is a gas deployed as a chemical weapon in WWI, and vinyl chloride, a highly volatile gas. The smoke from the burning is expected to drift for hundreds of miles, while the substances on the ground are at risk of contaminating rivers. People and animals in the area have sickened and even died. It’s unknown what the long-term effects on wildlife, livestock, and residents will be.
Pray for the protection of the innocent and vulnerable, particularly animals and children. Pray for healing of the land and life in the area. Pray for wisdom in cleaning the spill. Pray that safety measures will be implemented to prevent other such disasters. Pray that people remain vigilant. Pray for people to make wise preparations for disasters.
